Islands in the n Atlantic in Gulf of St. Lawrence on Bonaventure, Anticosti and Magdalen is., formerly off Quebec; Newfoundland, formerly Nova Scotia; and New Brunswick; islands around Iceland, Faroes, British Isles, n France and coastal Norway. Ranges at sea in n Atlantic s to Gulf coast, Cape Verde Is., nw Africa and Mediterranean Sea, and nw to n Russia and the Baltic Sea.
