Description:

Pablo Picasso (1881 - 1973). “Le Vieux Roi “ (The Old King) is an original Lithograph.

This is an edition of 1000 printed on thinner velin paper with a printed signature in red. It was published by the Nice newspaper “Le Patriot”.

There was he edition 6/1/1959 , on thick paper, signed by the artist in blue crayon, lower right and numbered in pencil in the margin. Reference: Mourlot 317 ; Bloch 869. Notes: This is a nice example of a large size lithograph made by Picasso in the 1950’s with a somewhat lyrical feel to it. The old king is ogling over some young girls - probably the way the artist himself did at the time ! He may have felt that an Old King and a famous artist had something in common : success with the ladies. There is no reserve.
