Il "King Kong" di Jackson è sicuramente un film dal notevole impatto spettacolare, eppure appare involuto e sbilanciato rispetto a quanto ci si poteva aspettare
Probabilmente, però, Jackson sapeva bene che avrebbe trovato tra il pubblico orecchie pronte ad ascoltarlo in ogni caso
Ricco di divertenti e divertite citazioni e auto-citazioni, ma realmente con un passo da commedia solo nella prima parte - prima di una virata verso l' horror ed una seconda verso il sentimentalismo, "King Kong" è una dichiarazione d'amore verso il cinema e i film che hanno convinto Peter Jackson a fare il regista
E forse è sbagliato chiedergli di più, perché in fondo se questo è ciò che il pubblico vuole, ha fatto bene Peter Jackson a darglielo

In grado di spodestare senza alcuna difficoltà l'ormai quasi arenata mitologia di "", e con una capacità inventiva da fare impallidire il più prolifico Spielberg, il regista Peter Jackson firma quello che è probabilmente il suo capolavoro, dirigendo con una maestria acquisita in quattro anni d'attività (quelli necessari a realizzare i precedenti due capitoli), che sfocia qui in una delle più straordinarie e perfette rappresentazioni di un mondo mitologico capace di stupire sempre e comunque
In altre parole Jackson ha fatto la storia della regia dei film di genere fantastico, creando sequenze che entrano di diritto nella memoria dello spettatore, in un crescendo d'emozioni che non smorzano mai l'impatto emotivo delle scene seguenti
