The Cross

When the night becomes your saviour and in trust you are betrayed
Don't find comfort in your anger, sanctify your love
When the road seems ever longer and there is no end in sight
Bear your cross upon your shoulder, hold your head up high
And in this world of strangers you need never feel alone
Open up your arms, cry out, don't you let the bastards drag you down

When you feel you're going under, close your eyes but don't let go
Gather strength from deep within you, fight the undertow
And if your innocence has damned you and in your naiveté
You have fallen prey to hatred, love is your escape
And in your darkest hour when your dreams all turn to dust
Feed the fire, release the flame, open up your heart and try again

When the fight is getting stronger, don't let fear become your friend
Cast aside your broken wings, it need not be the end
It's your life defend with honour, in your life defend with love
And here before the eyes of heaven, set your spirit free
And when the wolves come calling and are waiting at your door
Don't be afraid of who you are, there's no one else you have to answer for
