APICE TACTILE

 What is a Tactile

Some key design principles, when applied, make it easier and safer for visually impaired pedestrians to move around.

Layouts of all pedestrians' areas should be simple and consistent.  Orientation and way finding information should be provided by the use of high visibility and, where appropriate, tactile signing.

Visually impaired people will actively seek and make use of tactile information underfoot or with a stick, and particularly detectable contrasts in surface texture and colours helps. It’s therefore important, that textures and colours warning of potential hazards are rigorous enough to be detectable.

Different available tactiles

We promote the use of ceramic Porcelain tactile as we believe it is the best comparing to the other two most commonly available materials, rubber and cement (concrete).

To improve our presence in public jobs we have offered our tactile for an outdoor use with corundum, a very hard element that prevent people from slipping in any wet condition.

Very few technical details are different from our regular tactile as shown in technical features above.

Different Tactile Patterns

Apice over the years have accumulated various patterns in its range, the three most commonly used models in porcelain stoneware follow Australia standard dimensions in 300x300 mm, click on description to view all technical drawings:

Stop tile: or hazard tile, warns of potential danger beyond the created path (stairs, crossroads and railway platforms).

Go tile: or directional tile, it creates a safe path to follow and reach the main interest places in public areas

Alt tile: often substituted by Stop tile, its use is limited to warn that in a Go tile path there is a change in direction or a multi direction choice.

Other most popular available patterns are the 2 different USA Alternated 50 dots patterns and South Korean Stop and Go

We are always available to consider other relieves and dimensions on request,

We do not have standard colours and always try to offer the best possible match to all inquires. We suggest to use colors that are at least in 30% luminance contrast with the rest of the floor, Yellow color is always strongly suggested as this always attracts low sighted people attention.

Our production is just in time, only small quantities are kept in stock.
