 Tratto dall'omonimo manga di Rumiko Takahashi, la principessa dei manga, Lamù racconta le strampalate avventure di Ataru Moroboshi, dongiovanni da strapazzo, perennemente infoiato, dei suoi amici e compagni di classe, alle prese con Lamù, ragazza extraterrestre, innamorata di Ataru e i suoi parenti e amici provenienti dalla stella Uru. La commedia vede protagonisti una serie di personaggi assolutamente fuori da ogni schema, in cui gli esseri umani terrestri, appaiono ben più strani ed incomprensibili delle controparti aliene. Lamù è una ragazza extraterreste, dalle sembianze di un Oni, ovvero un orco della mitologia giapponese, dotata di corna e zanne, fisicamente molto attraente, ma dal carattere impulsivo e assolutamente invadente. Ataru, invece è il classico studente sfigato, sempre alla ricerca di una ragazza, innamorato delle bella Shinobu, e, almeno all'inizio ricambiato. Quando gli abitanti della stella Uru, decidono di conquistare ed invadere la Terra, per tradizione, indicono una gara tra la campionessa del loro pianeta, Lamù appunto, e un terrestre sorteggiato a caso; l'onore cade su Ataru Moroboshi. Il ragazzo avrà ben tre giorni per riuscire a catturare la bella aliena, impresa che all'apparenza sembra piuttosto facile per Ataru, abituato da sempre a correre dietro alle ragazze. L'unico problema è che Lamù è in grado di volare ... Grazie ad uno stratagemma, Ataru riesce infine nell'impresa, ma a causa di un equivoco Lamù crede di essere diventata la moglie dello scapestrato ragazzo. A questo punto inizia una difficile convivenza tra Lamù, e la famiglia Moroboshi, con Ataru sempre impegnato a seminare la gelossissima aliena, per poter frequentare Shinobu o qulunque ragazza gli capiti a tiro. La gia difficile situazione è complicata dalla presenza dei compagni di classe di Ataru, tutti innamorati di Lamù, e dall'arrivo di Mendo, studente ricchissimo ed affascinante, del quale si innamorano tutte le ragazze della scuola, compresa Shinobu. Il cast vede inoltre l'ingombrante presenza di Sakurambo, monaco buddista specializzato in spiriti maligni, e tragedie in genere, che sembra calamitare ogni sfiga del mondo verso la casa dei Moroboshi, la bellissima Sakura, nipote di Sakurambo, infermiera della scuola e anch'essa esorcista. A Lamù si unisce presto Ten, il cuginetto, poco più che poppante, in grado di volare e lanciare fiamme dalla bocca. Lei e Lan, invece sono due alieni, in primo ex fidanzato di Lamù, bellissimo nella sua forma umana, si trasforma in un enorme Bue tigrato, ed è capace solo di pensare al cibo e a Lamù, la seconda è un'amica di infanzia di Lamù, innamorata di Lei, che per vendetta vuole togliere la giovinezza ad Ataru, prosciugando tutte le energie del ragazzo tramite un bacio. |

La numerazione è differente, ma l'ordine degli episodi è lo stesso. Da notare come la divisione tra la prima serie (Lamù, la ragazza dello spazio), e la seconda (Superlamù) sia differente da quella che di solito si ha nelle versioni in DVD-Video. Credo che questo sia l'ordine con il quale la serie è stata presentata in Tv, mentre per i dvd, probabilmente ci si è riferiti all'edizione su VHS della Yamato Video, che, si è probabilmente interrotta prima della fine della prima serie.
