Medium crash tender

The Rampini "Nettuno" (Neptune) medium crash tender built on a Sirmac VAM 420 P chassis and has a total weight of 18000 kg. The engine is a rear-mounted Isotta Fraschini developing 380 HP through an automatic transmission. The "Nettuno" has a maximum speed of 108 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 80 km/h in 32 s.
All-terrain mobility is given by the 4-wheel drive and chassis design. The vehicle has a 35° gradeability and it can sustain a max lateral inclination of 30°. Entry and exit angles are 44° and 32°. It can negotiate a 23° hump. Maximum fording depth is 1 meter.
The crew compartment can accomodate 1+3 firefighters.

The "Nettuno" features an electronic control system for firefighting equipment. A CPU controls the water/foam system with logically sequenced action, preventing human errors and speeding up rescue operations.
The built-in test equipment displays failures and allow prompt action of the crew on semi-automatic controls that remotely activates the valves. In the event of total control system breakdown a manual backup is available.
This low-workload environment allow firefighting equipment operations with a single man in the crew compartment. The monitor control handle can be easily reached by the driver and he can discharge while travelling at up to 10 km/h.

The "Nettuno" carries 5000 litres of water and 600 litres of foam concentrate. Tanks and piping are made of stainless steel and rust-free materials (bronze, light alloy, stainless steel)are used for other water/foam system components.

The centrifugal pump is driven by an engine power take-off. A foam proportioner enables independent control of mixing rates for each outlet (monitor, hose reels, nozzles). The mixing rate can be set at any percentage.

The extinguishing media can be delivered through a monitor or two medium pressure hose-reels or a high pressure hose-reel.

The roof-mounted monitor has a discharge rate of 3000 litres/min at 16 bar with a maximum throw range of 75 m (70 m foam).

Two side-mounted hose-reel drums swing out giving a 180° coverage. Hose-reel discharge rate is 300 litres/min each at 16 bar with a maximum throw range of 25 m (water or foam). The high pressure hose-reel discharges 140 litres/min at 50 bar.
The heating system enables cold wheather operations down to -12° with -30° operability optional.
