  • La muerte comercial del Sinclair QL fue debida principalmente a tres motivos: - Sinclair se arruina en el año 1985 con la comercialización de su vehículo eléctrico Sinclair C5

  • - Amstrad, que presuntamente financió lo anterior, consigue comprar los derechos de comercialización del Sinclair QL

  • Sin embargo, gracias a su sistema operativo multitarea QDOS (Autor: Tony Tebby) e interprete SuperBASIC, y a que se vendieron varios cientos de miles de unidades, el Sinclair QL pudo sobrevivir durante años soportado y mantenido por sus usuarios, que diseñaron nuevas máquinas compatibles QL (incluido emuladores para las principales plataformas de ordenadores del mercado actual)
