Western Wendarian Ranges, Free Province of

Area: 5430 sq. miles

Population: 2181

Ethnic Groups: Alphatians 35%, Kaelics 15%.

Villages Fash’her (559): located in the flat territories along the trail connecting Wendar and Ylourgne.

Gethrod (102): located North the Barony of Uigmuir, it’s a village populated by Kaelic goatherders.

Government: Magistrate appointed by the Council of Princes, in charge for seven years. Seat in Fash’her.

Ruler: Magistrate Vyra Aerdol (born 970, human female, Fighter 9, Al C/CN).

House: Silverston. Vyra shows herself loyal to her House to further her own goals, only.

Territory: Borders South with Western FP, the Barony of Uigmuir and Fort Nordling FP. East with the Central Wendarian Ranges FP, North with the Realm of Wendar. It includes the first wooded hilly area from the left on Gaz3 map.

Food: Deficit/Self-sustenance.

Trails: Its proximity to the Wendarian Caravan Road is the only logistical advantage. The village is connected to it by a fair trail. Attempts to work a trail to the Barony of Uigmuir have been unsuccessful.

Economics Magistrate Aerdol demanded and obtained a TIP (Treasury Incentives Program) from the Treasury of the Princes, in order to improve the area. The TIP started two years ago and its demand for renewal, due in 1003, has already been presented to the Treasury of the Council. If the situation remains as it is, the Treasury will reject its renewal.

As other Wendarian Free Provinces, this one is very poor of resources and rich of dangers. The Constable appointed several prospectors (paid with the TIP) to search for mineral deposit in the mountains, without any positive results. Farming in the plains yields poor crops, due to the hard soil and bad weather. Eventual food deficit depends on bad weather conditions, food is eventually imported from Southern dominions or bought from caravans stopping in Fash’her. Pastures aren't enough to sustain a larger amount of cattle. Woods are rich of games and could provide a passage to Wendar but they are part of Amanthir’s (the kingdom of a Red Dragon) hunting grounds…

As part of the TIP, a 10 dc grant is offered to families wishing to settle the area. Other than the founding of Fash’her, it has obtained poor results, as it seems people prefers the quiet life of civilised rural areas.

WWR trades with caravans which stop at the Inn in Fash'her. The Inn attracts many caravans thanks to the low price (TIP) and good quality of food and lodgings. Trade with mountain communities and the Barony of Uigmuir is quite unknown, due to lack of trails and of large settlements other than Gethrod. WWR doesn’t generate any income: the deficit is paid thanks to the TIP.

Notable sites: The Hairy Goat Inn in Fash'her is named after a particular breed of wild goats living in the mountains. It offers lodging for men, animals, and cargoes. Quality of lodgings and food are good, and prices are incredibly low. The Inn holds up to 100 guests,

Butcher Pass is named after the recent wicked finding of a couple of adventurers who went there to discover why that passage between Glantri and Wendar wasn’t travelled at all. Too bad for them they found the answer: Lorgoth, a red dragon, is number two in the Dragon Kingdom of Amanthyr. Loyal to the ruler, he’s in charge of encouraging people to use the Western trail when going to and coming from Wendar. Too much traffic in the hunting woods would be bad for their game and for their "quite" life-style.
