Western Free Province

Area: 3930 sq. miles

Villages: Hirsberg (284): is a small village rising near the Iron Mines of Graez populated by pure-Hattian families only.

Falkenberg-Habichthügel (194): a trading community located near Adlerturm’s border.

Eisental (167): located in the same valley of Hirsberg.

Très (140): located in the mountains East of Malimbois.

Knutval (124): located deep in the Northern mountains, it’s home to the rebels.

Lagarde (103): located halfway between Morlay and Adlerturm.

Government: Magistrate named by the Council of Princes, in charge for seven years. Seat is in Hirsberg.

Ruler: Magistrate Ernst von Drachenfels (born 926, Al L/LG).

House: Ritterburg. Ernst is loyal to Prinz Jaggar, and serves his interests.

Territory: It includes all the mountains West the Baronies of Uigmuir and Adlerturm, North and East the Barony of Morlay, and West and South the Principality of Aalban.

Food: Surplus.

Trails: A fair trail connects Eisental to Hirsberg and a good one goes on to the Iron Mines and Graez. A bad trail connects Eisental with Habichthügel-Falkenberg, and a poor one connects these with Western Graustrail in the Barony of Adlerturm. A bad trails crosses the FP, connecting the Barony of Morlay with the Principality of Aalban

Economics: Western FP is the smallest amongst Wendarian FP. This is due to their proximity to rural centres (such as the Principality of Aalban and the Barony of Adlerturm), which, in turn, is the reason of its relative high density of population and the relative high number of small villages.

One village is found along the river, West to the Barony of Adlerturm, while others in low mountain valleys bordering West the Principality of Aalban. The population is self-sufficient and produces enough food to be stored for bad times to come, or to be brought to Graez’s market during spring and summer. Iron mines should be the only resource of this FP, but they had been annexed to the Principality of Aalban.

Notable sites: Knutval is a small village in the mountains near the source of the river. Inhabitants coming from the Baronies of Uigmuir and Adlerturm founded this village around 955 AC, during their Baronial Curse. It’s home to a small group of rebels that could be considered as part of the FFF or of the FoC, but they are too isolated from the civilised lands to contact any of these groups. Their main goal is to fight the Magocracy but in reality, they have proved to be quite harmless, until now. Nonetheless, they were suspected of the sabotage of Graez Iron Mines and of Der Alte Bridge few years ago. Therefore, Aalban Armed Militia is hunting them.

Très is in reality a Manor and the surrounding small community. Monsieur Bernard Estrelle du Très, feared by the local populace rules the lands. It is told he has been polimorphed into a monster after having strangled to death his bride for jealousy, but nobody has seen him since then. He always pays the taxes to the Magistrate of the Council and he has built a great Temple of Rad: why on Mystara such a man should be suspected for something? Bernard (born 958, Mage 16, WereWolf 6, Al C/CN) contracted lycanthropy from a Wolf who attacked him during the first night after he had married. He killed the lycanthrope only to discover it was his wife. Enraged he panicked and slaughtered his Personal Guard, which had come in his help, and all the servants in the Manor. Then, he wished them all back to life, partially succeeding: they must spend half of their life polimorphed into common household objects. Bernard has isolated himself since then. In order of ending his curse, he must succeed in making a Priestess of Valerias fall in love with him.
