All microspecimens display at least xxs of one species, often of more.
Most of the crystals are well formed, fresh and shiny, and for several species are gemmy.  However ,expectedly:
Forsterite and Periclase are slightly rough, Tenorite blades are very  thin.
The extremely rare sarcolite has rounded form.
Lazurite is xx, but the size of microxx  in the blue aggregate is very small.
Also Pseudocotunnite is small, althogh rich, and mixed with  some Cotunnite.
Indialite xx are small, but gemmy.
Identification is substantially sure for all species, but note:
 i) in the  Vesuvius area a rock fragment can bear anyone of the three listed humite group species. If  one identifies one xx of a particular species, i.e. humite, or clinohumite, or chondrodite, he is not really sure that another similar xx does not pertain to the other two  types.
ii) Similarly, only an X-ray check makes absolutely certain to distinguish between davyne  and microsommite. Nepheline is less tricky.
You should possibly find Pyrochlore around the Baddeleyite xxs.
Zeolites are on a leucotephrite matrix, other minerals (Baddeleyte, Hyordthalite, Zircon, glass-clear Sodalite) on sanidin.
Most of the other xxs are found in  ejected fragments of metamorphosed calkstone.
Volborthite, very small xx, was found in vugs in  1631 lava.
