So, you're stuck trying to listen while trying to take down the enemy or take cover.
You can do the safer, but less accurate option of sticking your gun around the corner and shooting blind, while your body continues to stay safe behind cover, or you can be more accurate in your shooting and where your bullets actually end up, but you have to poke your head up or around the object covering you.
The taking cover strategy in kill.switch is a sweet feature at the beginning, but becomes a little tedious once you are progressing through the game at a decent pace.
One move that accompanied the taking cover tactic was a fancy dive roll that would allow you to quickly take cover from one object to the next by diving and rolling just before impacting the ground--another move that was gimmicky throughout the entire game.
It's not that the moves were bad themselves, it simply came down to doing the same moves over and over throughout most of the game, and it became a little boring, always taking cover and then quickly poking out to take down one enemy at a time.
In today's games that allow the player to grab other characters and use them as cover as they put their gun barrel to the enemy's temple, I can't help wonder how more tactical thinking moves like this could have helped the gameplay in kill.switch.
I enjoyed the taking cover and diving around to take the targets down.
The gameplay and the environments that the gameplay takes place in are very well executed and even though the taking cover aspect of the game is a little too common, it helps that the environments are continually changing.
