Several recent partnerships highlight the move toward transforming free online communities into something like the Las Vegas strip.
Kazaa is among several peer-to-peer companies using advertising software, or "adware, " to attempt to walk the marketing tightrope.

Peer to peer è un tipo di comunicazione che avviene tra due utenti finali senza l’intermediazione di un server centrale.
Molti software di filesharing, (condivisione di file), oggi presenti in Rete e dalla stessa liberamente scaricabili, tanto per citarne alcuni pi ù noti, WinMX, Kazaa, Gnutella, Freenet, Imesh, Morpheus, vengono sfruttati dagli utenti di Internet per la trasmissione da un utente all'altro, (peer to peer, appunto), di svariati tipi di files, da quelli musicali MP3 ai filmati video, dagli spartiti agli appunti per gli esami, dal software (giochi e applicativi) a loghi e suonerie.
La sigla P2P abbiamo detto che sta per peer to peer, dove con il termine peer possiamo definire ogni nodo della rete praticamente identificabile nella stragrande maggioranza dei casi con il pc dell'utente.
