• no mention of THOMAS IX, who, if he was Elizabeth Fidoe’s son, would have been born when she was only 16, and 11 years before she married Edward III • also of RICHARD V, for whom absolutely no birth record can be found • but EDWARD and MARGARET appear, not previously listed, baptized in Chaddesley Corbett, where Edward and Elizabeth were living in the 1841 census – but neither of these 2 children appear in the 1841 census • on the other hand, could EDWARD be RICHARD V? - no birth record can be found for Richard, whilst Edward cannot be found in any census • why WILLIAM and FREDERIC were baptized a 2^nd time in 1837 in Belbroughton is a mystery, although William did state in the 1891 census that he was born there - Belbroughton is about 10 km from Kidderminster ● a note on the page of Edward’s brother John V, written some time ago, reads: • an Edward Wigley married 16 JAN 1812 [Edward III would have been about 26 years old], Boughton Aluph, Kent, Ann George^CERT • they had a daughter Martha, baptized 28 JAN 1821, Boughton Aluph, Kent (father labourer), buried there 28 JAN 1821^BMD • he cannot be John’s brother, Edward III, as the latter moved to Worcestershire and married an Elizabeth, and as John and his brother were born in Shropshire, it is unlikely that they were related to this Edward ● but one theory put forward by various people is that the Edward Wigley who married Ann George actually was Edward III, having first moved fromShropshire to Kent (possibly with his brother John V) and then to Kidderminster, Worcs • in this case Ann could be the mother of Thomas IX, but then died, leading to Edward’s marrying Elizabeth Fidoe in 1828 • in 1828 Edward would have been about 42, and Elizabeth about 15 years his junior, so it is possible that he was a widower when he married her • the following children were baptized in Kidderminster, parents Edward and Ann Wigley (none appear in the 1841 census):

• but no baptism can be found for Thomas about 1817 in either Kent or Kidderminster, whereas Martha’s baptism, and burial, are clearly documented • and no death record can be found for Ann between 1821 (Martha’s birth?) and 1828 (Edward’s [2^nd ?] marriage), again in either Kent or Kidderminster • and if Martha was born in Kent about 1821, how could Thomas be born in Kidderminster about 1817? • but was Thomas really born in Kidderminster? • he stated in the 1841 census (when he was 23 years old) that he was born in Worcestershire, and in 1851 that he was born in Kidderminster • but he might not have known where he was actually born – many people did not in those times • if he really was Edward’s son, he would have moved to Kidderminster with his father in the 1820’s, when he would have been less than 10 years old, and spent the early part of his life there, so he might have thought he was born there • but in the 1881 census he stated that he was born in Kent, a point that has been worrying the Author for years •unfortunately he cannot be found in any subsequent censuses • DNA: the Author, who is a 3 x great-grandson of John V, is in contact with a 2 x great-grandson of Thomas IX - and therefore theoretically a 3 x great-grandson of Edward III – which would make us 5^th cousins, but Ancestry DNA does not show any match between us, even though it does, for example, show a match with a 7^th cousin twice removed, descended from a 1^st cousin of Edward III and John V’s father ● to recapitulate: what are the chances of 2 completely unrelated Wigleys marrying within the space of 7 years (1805 and 1812) in the same village (Boughton Aluph, Kent), where previously there are no records of any Wigleys? ● a witness at the marriage with Ann George was a Mary Wigley, who might have been Edward Wigley III‘s sister-in-law, John Wigley V’s wife Mary – had it been John V himself, the relationship would have been almost certain ● both John and Edward were able to sign their names in their marriage records

● Ann George: no baptism record can be found for her, so it is only presumed that she was born in Kent ● neither can any death record be found for her ● nothing more is known about her

● Elizabeth (Fidoe?): although it has been known for some time that Edward’s wife’s name was Elizabeth^CHILDRENS’ BAPTISMS, her surname was not known ● the general consensus now seems to be that her name was Elizabeth Fidoe ● the marriage record shows that she was a widow – the only possible marriage for an Elizabeth in the period 1820-8 was that of Elizabeth Martin, who married 28 MAY 1821, Kidderminster, Worcs, Thomas Fidoe^CERT ● a Thomas Fidoe, age 23 (so born about 1804), was buried 11 FEB 1827, Kidderminster, Worcs^CERT ● nothing more is known about her
