The origin of Prophecy is to be found in the early 1999, when Matteo Bonazza (vocals) and Alfredo Albanese (guitar), after an unlucky experience with Shadestorm, decided to give life to a new and more ambitious project.
Of the former members, today, apart from Matteo, only the both rhythm an lead guitarist Davide Cotti and the drummer Stefano "Sga" Vaccari remain, while the only changes occured on the bass, where we now find Alessandro Valle that permanently joined the band in March 2000, and on the other guitar, where Davide now forms a brilliant couple of axe-men with Mauro Minelli, officially with Prophecy since November 15th 2000.
The great chemistry both personal and musical, definitely stabilized after Mauro joined the four friends, allows the band to focus on the development of a personal and original style, powerful, aggressive and melodic, that takes origin from the many and different experiences and influences of every musician of the band. The Prophecy sound, in fact, accepts no boundaries or limitations to a single genre, but tries to get inspiration from more musical styles (like power, prog, thrash, but also non-metal music just like jazz or classic) with the target to enhance the impact and the atmosphere of every single song.

After the very useful experience lived during the recordings of the first work simply entitled "Live Demo '999", work that didn't fully satisfy the band though, Prophecy decided to try again, in the autumn 2000, and record a single track with the only help of their knowledge about home-recording. The target is to put the song on Vitaminic just to taste the audience worlwide. The choice falls on "There in the Black Wood", that quickly goes straight to the first place among the most downloaded metal songs, remaining up there in the Top Ten for several weeks.
Because of the high number of downloads and of the very positive reaction of the audience via e-mail from all around the planet, Prophecy decided to record, with even better methods, a proper demo-cd, born in the spring of 2001 with the title "The Distance Behind".
The drum tracks were recorded at Alar's Studio in Parma, while for all the other instruments and voice the decision is to rely upon the home-recording technology once again, with very satisfying results a very low costs. The mixing and the mastering, in particular, were done without the help of anybody but the band members, thanks to high-level computer software.
The songs included are three, "The Itinerants", "Slaughter of Innocents" and "The Prophecy", plus, being already well known, "There in the Black Wood" as a bonus track.
In the meantime the band plays several gigs getting everywhere a very good response from the audience and the fans, especially in the two editions of the "Addicted to Chaos Festival" in Bologna, while the highest point will be the exhibition at the "1st Italian Metal Alliance Festival" in Milan, together with White Skull, Skylark, SKW and many other bands gathered under the name of an Alliance created by Matteo Bonazza himself, an association that can now rely on the biggest bands of the Italian scene.
Prophecy never stopped the process of song-writing, and there are now many songs, apart from the demo, ready to be recorded or played live.
