In 1950 I worked as mechanical design engineer for the
Company RUMI of Bergamo (Italy) in the field of spinning and webbing
machines.
In the same year RUMI, in order to diversify and expand
its production, decided to enter the cinema business by acquiring equipment
and staff from the Company SAFAR of Milan.
As the technology was of great interest to me, I began
working as designer in the field of talking pictures under the guidance
of the very experienced Mr. Dallari, and later on the whole cinema business
activity joined the newly established company MICROCINE of Bergamo.
In 1954, following the winding up of the MICROCINE company
and a short employment with the company MICROTECNICA of the Fiat Group
in Turin, I joined the company LESA in Milan as Engineering Department
Manager for the Technical Management 3 sector. At the time we used drafting
machines and I remember with great affection the 14 designer engineers
working with me. I signed all the projects concerning turntables, from
the birth of the microgroove to magnetic tape, reel to reel and cassette
recorders manufactured by the LESA company, which later on changed its
name to PANTA, and I remained with them until 1984.
During my work, in 1970 I had the opportunity of meeting
Mr. Bosco, manager of the TELEFUNKEN’s electro-acoustic department
in Italy and, thanks to mutual esteem I was asked to cooperate with
them as a consultant. Through this cooperation we realized recording
studio turntables, high speed duplicators and music cassette winders.
This cooperation ended in 1988 when this important trade
name disappeared from the Italian market. During all those years the
relations with the German Head Office were very close, with frequent
visits and exchanges of information. I remember Mr. Martin of the Konstanz
plant with special appreciation.
Since then, from 1988 and up to 2003, I continued to
work as project designer with the company TAPEMATIC of Ornago (Milan)
where, with the designing of cells for the production of CDs and DVDs,
I concluded my long working activity.
