I wrote a little review for each band I like most; there are only four but in future I'll put more.

-AWFUL- (Italian grind band)

-BASTARD SAINTS - (Italian brutal band)

-CRYPTOPSY- From Canada, they formed at the beginning of nineties when they went on the scene with their debut album "Blasphemy made flesh", greatly brutal!   Canadesi, nati all'inizio degli anni novanta hanno esordito nel '94 con il debut "Blasphemy made flesh", brutale al massimo e bellissimo. Poi, con il secondo "None so vile" nel 1996 hanno ribaltato i canoni del brutal death accostando alla velocità estrema la perfezione tecnica; notevole l'opera del batterista Flo Mounier capace di sbalordire il pubblico dei concerti con la sua grandissima abilità e agilità…un mostro!! Nel 1998 hanno cambiato il cantante, il gutturale Lord Worm ha lasciato il posto al più incisivo e aggressivo Mike Di Salvo, con il quale hanno registrato gli ultimi due lavori, "Whisper supremacy" - 1998 e "And then you'll beg" - 2000, molto simili tra loro ma diversi dai primi due storici album. Nel 2001 Di Salvo ha lasciato il gruppo e vedremo se anche col nuovo cantante ci saranno dei cambiamenti nel sound della band per i prossimi album. Chi vivrà ascolterà... www.cryptopsy.net

-DEICIDE- It's not a matter of utility enumerating the many debated critics risen about their past fame (I particularily mean the singer's, Glenn Benton). It suffices to say that these four american-death-metal pioneers, together with Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel (they're all from Tampa, Florida), had started the "Golden Age" of death metal. Their first album was "Deicide", released in 1991; at that time death-metal didn't have all its modern topics as we can see them nowadays. Afterthat, in 1992, they attacked our ears playing the masterpiece "Legion", the songs of wich have never been live executed, except for "Dead by dawn". They rose the maximum creativity in "Once upon the cross" (1995), in matter of brutality. Instead, with the last two releases "Serpents of the light" and "Incineratehymn", they lost speed and power. But one favourable thing must be said: they've never change line-up, so keeping aligned with their initial artistic aims. I recommend Deicide for all who love violent death with rythmical vocals and riffs. VISIT THEIR SITE! www.deicide.com

-MORBID ANGEL- It's surprising how this band evolved during the years however mantaining themselves great. None of their album can be classified, they are all in different styles. From Florida, USA, they debut with a demo in 1985 and then edited their first primordial album "Altars of madness" mixing death and black metal with grooving sounds. Thy have enbetter recording quality with the second album "Blessed are the sick" with sharp riffs and violent sound. The third "Covenant" is at the top of the violence; the best in my opinion. After the fourth album "Domination" we saw the bassist-singer David Vincent leaving the band. E' sorprendente come questa band abbia potuto evolversi negli anni rimanendo sempre grande. Di tutti gli album pubblicati non ne esistono due che siano simili! Americani della Florida, hanno esordito con un demo nel 1985 e poi fecero uscire il primo e primordiale album nel 1989 "Altars of madness" un misto di death e black grezzo nei suoni e veloce. Poi il secondo "Blessed are the sick" ha visto entrare in scena ottima registrazione, nitidezza dei suoni e violenza mista a tecnica raffinata. Il terzo "Covenant" del 1993 è l'apice della violenza, ottimo e per me il migliore! Nel quarto "Domination" nel 1995, ultimo album a cui ha partecipato il cantante-bassista David Vincent, la perfezione raggiunta nei suoni si è unita a raffinati lavori con le chitarre; lodevole il lavoro del chitarrista solista fac-totum Trey Azagtoth .. ascoltare per credere, per esempio il mitico solo di Where the slime live; per non parlare della batteria di Pete "Commando" Sandoval…sembra di ascoltare le pale rotanti di un elicottero! Se con questo album si sono un attimo tranquillizzati per dare spazio alla tecnica nel penultimo album "Formulas fatal to the flesh" si è visto un ritorno alla violenza e alle tendenze doom, meno notevole dei primi 4 ma pur sempre evoluto. Questo trio ha sempre nuove carte da giocare in fatto di brutalità e tecnica, e anche dal vivo non delude mai. www.morbidangel.com

-CANNIBAL CORPSE- Nati alla fine degli anni '80 hanno inciso un demo, ad oggi irreperibile, e poi hanno sfondato la scena col loro primo e mitico album "Eaten back to life" nel 1990 molto grezzo nella registrazione ma fenomenale nei riffs e nel cantato di Chris Barnes. Inutile dire che questa è la band che ha instaurato tra le prime il nuovo genere del splatter-death, che oggi migliaia di nuove band seguono. Sono rimasti sempre ligi al dovere del brutal death anche coi 2 successivi album "Butchered at birth" nel 1991 e "Tomb of the mutilated" nel 1992, entrambi sullo stesso stile, bellissimi; poi hanno raggiunto l'apice della perfezione col quarto lavoro "The bleeding" uscito nel 1994, l'ultimo con C. Barnes alla voce. Con l'entrata nel gruppo della nuova voce di George "corpsegrinder" Fisher, ex Monstrosity, e l'uscita degli ultimi 3 album ("Vile"-1996, "Gallery of suicide"1998, "Bloodthirst"-2000) c'è stato un cambiamento di rotta, hanno abbandonato la brutalità e l'incisività iniziale, col tipico cantato cadenzato e gutturale, per darsi a sviluppi tecnici più raffinati, e a mio modo di vedere un po' troppo annoianti. Cmq i primi 4 lavori restano dei capisaldi del brutal irrinunciabili. www.cannibalcorpse.com
