● in the baptism entries for Bradford on Avon in the Wiltshire Record Office, all of Benjamin I’s children are listed, but not John, which makes it even more unlikely that he was Benjamin I’s son ● so far, no baptism has been found for him, so it is impossible to know with any certainty who his father was ● furthermore, in the 1871 census, John’s granddaughter, Georgiana Lasbury/Pitet, was staying with the Burgess family, who may have had links to another branch of the Lasbury family ● she also died at the Burgess’ home - either this is a coincidence, or John was related to this other branch of the Lasbury family, and not necessarily to Benjamin I ● this problem has been submitted to various Lasbury experts, but so far none have provided any explanation, so the question remains open

● APRIL 2018: DNA testing has shown that the Author, who is descended from John, is NOT related to the owner of the LASBURY FAMILY SITE, who is descended from Benjamin I, of the Wiltshire Lasbury family, so John’s ancestry remains a mystery ● SEPTEMBER 2018: DNA testing has also shown that the Author is related to a descendant of Martha Lasbury, born 1746-50, East Harptree, Somerset, so he must be descended from the Somerset Lasbury family – no connection has yet been found between the Somerset and Wiltshire families ● a possible descent, suggested by the owner of the LASBURY FAMILY SITE, taken from data on the site, but PURE SPECULATION: THOMAS LASBURY (born 1740-50, Somerset?) married Ann ..... their son JOHN (a) (baptized 24 Nov 1771, Limpley Stoke, Wilts) MIGHT be the same person as a JOHN (b) who married 25 MAY 1789, Westbury, Wilts, Edith Tucker their son? JOHN I ● was THOMAS LASBURY (born 1740-50, Somerset?) somehow connected to the SOMERSET LASBURY FAMILY, and did he migrate from Somerset to Wiltshire? ● JOHN I, was the father of SABINA (who was born about 1812), so John cannot have been born after, say, 1792 ● Limpley Stoke is however 18 km from Westbury

● John’s wife’s name was definitely Leah^CENSUS, but it is not definite that it was Leah Harvey ● nothing more is known about her
