1 Yes my Mum& Dad James Robert Swales & Mary Kathleen Ogilvie.

 

 3. I can only see 1 dog, but I'll take your word for it

3 Yes only one dog got mixed up with photos.

 

 4. also your Gran I assume - is this at Swazelwood Castle?

4 Gardens of Brownsea Island Castle.

 

 5. "wedding what"? - are the other 2 people your Swales Grandparents?

5 Best Man Robert James Ogilvie Mums brother and Bridesmaid ?.

 

 B. Uncle George age 21 with his Gran Georgiana Williams also her daughter  Hetty

 

 1. I assume Hetty is the woman in the front - any idea who the others are? as far as I can see, Hetty didn't get married till 1931, so they can't be her children

1 Yes and top left we think is Gladys as she was a similar age to George and the family thought they may get together ?

5 Dont know where it was taken but reads (Sacred to the memory of our only and beloved Son) on name.

 

 C. George in POW camp X marks the spot on the photos.

2 Lawn at Knaresborough House Children's Hospital (Its still there)

When I was a Kid we that is the riff-raff of Kirk Deighton got on the

bus to Knarsborough changed buses there and went to Starbeck Baths.

We caught the train back to Knarsborough after swimming it cost 2d the

we had to wait for half an hour for the bus back to Wetherby.

While we waited we baught a Hovis penny Loaf and a knob of butter and

finished off with a Penny Lolly home made ta the corner shop. They were happy days (also added to biography))

I I cant make it out.

 

 2. are any of the men members of the family?

2 No they are patients at a Military Convalescent Home / Hospital in Wakefield dont know where abouts.

· it was originally thought that this might be

ANN FRANCES SMITH DURHAM, CHARLES JACOB DURHAM

but they died 1876 and 1870, so it can’t be

· it may therefore be JANE ANN CHIVERS SMITH, JAMES THOMAS SMITH

Henrietta Sarah’s aunt and uncle, both of whom lived into the 20th century

· a dating exercise has given: double breasted jacket, wide lapel, high collar make the photo 1890's; high neckline, brooch, hair tied up, hat, lots of frills on the dress make it 1885-8
