hardly remember 1 Eden Rd. I was away for a lot
of the war at boarding school and Croydon was being
badly bombed. So my grandmother kept me in Worcs
for the first 2 or 3 years. It was temporary accomadation
so never felt like home. We were still at Eden Rd when my
Mother told me she was expecting my sister who was born in July 1944
This is 1, Eden Rd, where EMS and me, lived during the
war. Rented, not owned

INVESTIGATION |
Clive House, 9
The Orchard, Blackheath, Kent · it hasn’t been
possible to find the exact house, but it should be one of these, or a similar
house – there are only about 9 houses in the Orchard |

me the house was no longer there |
St Andrew’s
House, 5 Perry Vale, Forest Hill, Kent · E.J. CARPETS’
address is 1-5 Perry Vale, so no. 5 must be the house on the far right –

1 Luga(r)no(?)
Mansion(s), Campden Road, South Croydon, Surrey · the original
house is possibly no longer there, but this is at no. 2 – Henrietta Sarah’s
granddaughter thinks it might have been bombed during the war, or maybe it
was sold, and certainly doesn't remember it after about 1939 |
25 Nottingham Road,

Chiltern Rd,
Spencer Rd was
where my parents moved to when they were married, and I was born there (1st
room on the left on going in the front door)
Yes, I think
Granny moved there (Campden) after selling the house
at Bickley. Spencer Rd was only 100 yds away and Granny wasn't going to let her yopungest son get too far away, particularly as he had
married that woman, (I'm sure against HSD's wishes)
who smoked, drank pink gin, and wore lipstick.
